All of the Manduca sexta from South America are actually referring to Manduca paphus, recently (2-3 years ago) revised to full species rank: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/356192353_A_revised_and_annotated_checklist_of_the_Brazilian_Sphingidae_with_new_records_taxonomical_notes_and_description_of_one_new_species_Lepidoptera_Sphingidae
