Hello! I'm a Civil Engineer in New Mexico and all-around nature lover. As I am not an expert, please apply your own judgement before agreeing with my IDs and I am always learning from my mistakes. If you want help with an observation or an explanation of an ID, please tag me and ask.

Tribe Cheloneae is my unofficial specialty on iNat. For Penstemon, please check out my journal posts.

I mostly identify observations in New Mexico and surrounding states. I like to help with insects, especially:

and native plants of the four corners region, such as:

  • Acer and Chamaesaracha
  • Mirabilis and Phacelia
  • Rosaceae: Amelanchier, Cercocarpus, and Fallugia

Neighborhood ambassador with Friends of Valle de Oro NWR to promote gardening for wildlife in central New Mexico. I use iNaturalist to track garden visitors and inhabitants (over 1,100 species and counting).

Contributor at https://pollinatorweb.com, a resource for gardeners in Arizona and New Mexico. Sunflowers are one of our favorites. Articles and posts featuring my garden:

Other organizations I volunteer with are Xerces Society, UNM Museum of Southwestern Biology, and as an editor on bugguide.net
