The Asombro Institute for Science Education is a nonprofit organization in Las Cruces, New Mexico dedicated to increasing natural science literacy through engaging, place-based education. To achieve this mission, we serve more than 22,000 K-12 students and 1,500 adults in our state with hands-on, inquiry-based science education programs each year. Programs take place in classrooms, schoolyards, and at our outdoor classroom, the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park.

The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park (CDNP) encompasses 935 acres of the Dona Ana Mountains north of Las Cruces, New Mexico. It is free and open to the public Tuesday - Sunday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The park features hiking trails, a paved and accessible mini trail, interpretive signs, a 150-seat outdoor amphitheater, picnic tables, shade ramadas, and parking for visitors to this beautiful, biologically and topographically diverse desert ecosystem.
