I am a broadly trained ecologist who is always seeking to discern the patterns of interactions between plants, animals, and their environments. My career focus is to contribute information needed for effective conservation and management of ecosystems.

I earned a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico in 2012 for my research on the pollination ecology of agaves by endangered nectar-feeding bats, and the bats’ foraging ecology in relation to agave landscape distribution.

I am a Conservation Biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept.'s Watershed Conservation Team, with a focus on riparian invasive species. Previously, I have done GIS and riparian restoration research and monitoring with the City of Austin's Watershed Protection Dept., wrangled visitors and invasives at Travis County’s Hamilton Pool Preserve and Reimers Ranch Park, taught Evolution & Ecology labs and Natural History of the Southwest at UNM’s Biology Department, tracked endangered bats to newly discovered roosts for U.S. Geological Survey, and did field research, GIS, grant program management, and editing for Bat Conservation International.

I am an ISA Certified Arborist, and active with the Capital Area Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists. Hobbies include eBirding, vegetable gardening, home brewing, copy editing, and taking long walks with field guides.

Apparently my user photo wants to be sideways. I will fiddle with it later.
