It shouldn't be over 32°C mid June but it was when I went to Bad Düben on June 21st. I couldn't get a photo of any of the dozens of birds I heard since they were hiding from the heat but I included one sound that I think was of a bird, sounded a bit like a parrot which it surely wasn't. Bad Düben is the access point to Dübener Heide, a nature reserve consisting of mostly broadleaf woodlands, some of which are only about 40 years old after the coal industry left.

I still don't know if it's "right" to upload a lot of animals in captivity to iNaturalist but I feel like it might be. Who knows what kind of animal we have to revive next after it went to the brink of extinction. Visiting the Wildpark in summer is genuinly uneventful. Deer and birds alike seek shade and predators like the lynx won't come out all day. Not even the otters felt like swimming. I am not sure what happened to the masses of ducks of all kinds that used to live there, the ponds were completely empty this time around. I still like visiting from time to time to see the small moufflons that, for the small price of a bit of bought feed, like to be petted.

Ihr mögt Orthetrum cancellatum? Es ist wirklich schwer zu beschreiben was für Massen davon rund um die Teiche bei Petersroda unterwegs sind. Ich bin von Petersroda (S2 zB ab Leipzig) zu dem nächstgelegenen Teich hoch gelaufen. Alles ist sehr trocken, die Teiche sichtbar zusammengeschrumpft. Aber teilweise sind bereits die Wege hin übersät von Blaupfeilen, die sich auf dem Boden niederlassen und auseinander fliegen wenn man durch läuft. Am Wasser sind es dann noch ein paar mehr, inklusive einiger beeindruckend großer Exemplare, die man wie Vögel über dem Schilf fotografieren kann.

Außerdem haben sich verschiedene Arten von Weg-, Wald- und Raubameisen breit gemacht. Es hilft nichts, sie klettern zügig an einem hoch, egal wo und wie schnell man sich bewegt, beißen aber offenbar nicht. Zumindest hab ich keine Bisse abbekommen.

Auf den Seen, Ludwigssee und den kleineren, gibt es relativ wenig zu sehen. Ich glaube einen relativ großen Adler ausgemacht zu haben, es muss also Fische geben. Ansonsten ein paar Graugänse, Bachstelzen und sicherlich noch mehr Wasservögel, die bei über 30 Grad im Schilf ausharrten.

Wenn man dann an den Seen entlang Richtung Bitterfeld-Wolfen läuft, finden sich wieder mehr Blühpflanzen und entsprechend viele verschiedene Falter, Bienen und Hummeln. Irgendwo kurz vor Zugang zu Bitterfeld-Wolfen auf dem asphaltierten Weg habe ich einen Pirol gehört, aber nicht gesehen. Wenn man einen finden möchte, wäre man dort also richtig. Kuckucke muss es auch geben, sonst vor allem Sperlinge und andere kleine Vögel, die sich in den zumindest teilweise bewusst angepflanzten Büschen und Hecken wohlfühlen.

Der Weg von Petersroda entlang der Ufer der beiden unteren Seen bis nach Bitterfeld-Wolfen ist etwa 8 Kilometer lang und teilweise asphaltiert.
