Slightly smaller than a 'painted lady' butterfly in overall size.
Might be saltbush but doesn't seem to have checkered edges but maybe just worn
Resting on Dianella admixta and Kangaroo Grass. Using Kangaroo Grass as a vantage point for seeing other individuals and other species, all of whom it chased then returned to about the same spot. I saw 4-5 individuals flying around this area (about 20m).
Numerous individuals seen flying, very flighty so difficult to photograph. The main pic here was the exception, resting on Haloragis heterophylla.
Sitting on its 'viewing platform' (a spent Plantago lanceolata).
First lutea of the season although I haven't had chance to look much before this date.
Trapezites butterfly feeding on Pimelea humilis (Common Rice-flower) in Plains Grassy Woodland EVC (Central Victoria Uplands) at Illabarook Rail Reserve.
