I headed over to Motukorea where the visibility was a lot better in the shallows over a rocky reef. I didn't do any transects and got a bit lost weaving around out to a depth of 3m at low tide. I was over rock the whole time but there was often a layer of gravel and some shell. I was pleased to find an interesting platform, lots of kelp, triplefins and spotty. I also saw four goatfish, one paore, and I disturbed three sweep under a platform. Numbers of aapatos sponges and dead man's fingers (which were large as well) stood out. The sad thing was all the sediment coating everything. Its amazing how much life was around given all the muck.
Under a ledge, at least half a meter cubed, soft.

I saw heaps of commons here, I broke a kina to see who else might be around.
Kelp sheltered by a ledge had the most sediment.
Exposed kelp has less sediment on the blades.
Abundant, these photos show it opening and closing.
