I am Mark Wapstra, a Tasmanian-based field ecologist with a particular (lifelong) interest in native orchids with an emphasis on their conservation management. I also have a peculiar interest in the genus Senecio (Asteraceae) and the genera Galium and Asperula (Rubiaceae). The user name of "thismiaman" comes from close to two decades of survey and research into Thismia rodwayi (fairy lanterns), undoubtedly one of our most fascinating plants.
