I am a long-time volunteer in the Entomology department of the California Academy of Sciences and I have been photographing, collecting and trying to identify California arthropods since 2007. I have a special interest in the spiders of western North America, but I am also generally interested in terrestrial invertebrates in North America. I frequently use Bug Guide to get help with identifying the invertebrates I find. I am also a birder, although that interest has gotten less attention over the last few years. I am trying hard to learn some basic botany and plant ID skills, with limited success. :)
