Description

Both birds in the first photo, and the top-right bird in the second photo. Since they were harassing a crow, I got a great shot of the Raven’s wedge-shaped tail vs. the crow’s fan-shaped tail.

Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias)

Description

It’s not a great shot because the nest was impressively blocked by tree branches, but I recognized the call of a great blue heron which prompted me to look up for it. This appears to be a baby in the nest. Only the neck feathers of the older blue heron are visible - and you have to zoom to see them. But thankfully iNaturalist automatically identified this as a great blue heron too (it was the first suggested option!). What a beautiful morning. (And the bald eagle wasn’t far from this nest.)
