Sony a7riv with Sony SAL 200-600G Lens

The Indian Blue Robin is small colourful bird which breeds in the Himalayas but migrates South during the Winters. In winter they are found mainly in the hill forests of Southern India, the Western Ghats and in Sri Lanka. They arrive in mid-September and leave the Winter quarters in mid April.

The Indian Blue Robin is a small bird (15 cm long) with bright blue colors. An adult male has a slaty-blue with a with a bright white supercilium (eyebrow), contrasting with a black mask along its neck, and orange underparts. Whereas the female is usually olive-matte brown with buffy underparts in colour.

The habitat in which they are found is usually dense and dark forest with undergrowth and leaf litter. It skulks in undergrowth, rarely seen and hops on the ground, frequently flicking and fanning its tail. It is an insectivorous and feeds mainly on the ground.
