A couple years ago, there was a decent sized tree-of-heaven sapling in this exact spot (a curbside sidewalk strip of greenery between the sidewalk and the road). Somebody cut it down and put a big rock over the stump. Now, it's growing back.
I broke a stem after these photos were taken and it smelled of rancid peanut butter.
