House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) is an introduced/naturalized songbird in the Old World Sparrows (Passeridae) family that is 16cm (6.5 inches) long. Breeding male House Sparrow has a gray crown, chestnut nape, black bib, black bill. It "is one of the most widespread and abundant songbirds in the world today. House Sparrow has a simple success formula: it associates with humans. Native to Eurasia and northern Africa, it has succeeded in urban and farming areas all over the world -- including North America, where it was first released in New York in 1851." With an almost worldwide distribution, there are many subspecies.
