Banded under USGS and State permits. Final year of a Smithsonian-led cooperative effort involving almost 50 researchers (Kevin Tolan and myself included) from across the US and Canada, using lightweight GPS tags to jointly document the migration routes, overwintering areas, and population connectivity of all 3 meadowlark species north of Mexico. Here in New England, Eastern Meadowlarks have declined by ~90% since the 1980s.
