Three clumps of this viscid/sticky subshrub, on a NW-facing roadcut along Cobal Canyon Motorway, Marshall Canyon, San Gabriel Mountains foothills. These three plants show the red, orange, and yellow-orange flower variants present in this population. Coin used for scale is a US quarter dollar (¢25 piece), 24.26 mm, 0.955 inch in diameter.

Bee fly was on a mustard flower. It was near a bunch of mustard growing on the side of the trail.

This lady bug was seen resting in the sun on a leaf. Many others were seen close by. Image was taken at Claremont Hillls wilderness park at the beginning of the hiking trail right before the trail splits into two.
Vines are dead but there are scattered yellow fruits on the hillside.
