Cook’s Slough Sanctuary & Nature Park
Uvalde, Uvalde County, Texas
Texas Frogfruit was growing in abundance at Cook's Slough. It grows throughout the southern half of the United States roughly from Oregon to New Jersey and south. Its range extends into Mexico and perhaps beyond as well. Additional common names for this native ground covering wildflower include Turkey Tangle Fogfruit and Frogfruit. It is clearly an authentic resident of the Western Hemisphere.

Most butterflies don't seem to mind the flash on my camera, but some of the skippers react very quickly, like this one in the second photo. It was resting on a leaf when I tried the flash, but apparently the camera flashes a split second before the shutter opens and by that time this skipper had jumped into the air. I've seen this with some other skippers as well.
