Distinguished from the similar L. shockleyi by: grows mostly in the south, not often in Mineral County (not just found in and near Mineral and Esmeralda Counties); nonhalophyte (not halophyte); lvs glabrous (not with sparse stalked glands); corolla tube up to 1 cm (not ~0.4 cm); fruit strongly exserted from calyx (not enclosed by calyx).
