for those of you in the eastern half of the U.S. where Red-bellied Woodpecker is common, thought I'd post a few shots of its closely related cousin, the Golden-fronted Woodpecker. This mature male is working over the feeders in my backyard and allowed some detail shots of its distinctive head patterns and plumage.

Valentines Day Sunrise Photo Hike to Cattail Pond. I had 15 people with me this morning... ready to start hiking at 6:30 am we arrived at Cattail pond to find steam rising from the pond, a collection of ducks,and a great Egret. We were serenaded by this wren as the sun crested over the hill

This Northern Cardinal spent over 1 minute attacking his reflection in the hood of my car i managed to capture it on video clip . it was very entertaining I can only post a few stills for you taken through my dirty windshield but I did manage to take a few photos of him afterwards when he flew to a nearby tree
