Porcupine


Almost poached, trapped with a cable round its neck, found by my dogs in my yard. Had to push it up near the fence and get the bolt-cutter with two pipes on the handles (to gain much needed distance from the quills) to cut through the cable. It gave us a run around but once we cut the cable it left unhurried through the undergrowth, none the worse for wear.

Freshly Clubbed porcupine


Freshly killed by the local jackal hunter, apparently caught under a fence it was trying to burrow under (or gin trap?) Incident reported, with photographs and details to local farmers, who will take further action.
