Description

Growing at base of Douglas Fir near sword ferns. Found on a day of rainy weather and overcast sky.

Taste: Unpleasant
Odor: Pleasant

Performed microscopy at 1000x oil immersion to see conical shape of spores and tiny warts on spores to separate ventricosus from voitkii sp. Gills photo at 40x magnification.

Penny Bun (Boletus edulis)

Description

This fungal species was found on October 12th in the conifer forest of Big Mosquito Lake. The cap was very thick with a thick and tough stipe. The cap was smooth with pores underneath that looked sponge-like, while the stipe looked a but net-like.

Description

Collection #: M-12. It was growing on a stick on the ground. Was found under conifers overhead. Shallon and sword ferns were in the shrubs.
