The Gull-billed tern, formerly Sterna nilotica, is a tern in the family Laridae. It is now considered to be in its own genus. The genus name is from Ancient Greek gelao, "to laugh", and khelidon, "swallow". Gelochelidon nilotica
A small tern-like bird, without the bold black cap.

Additional comments? - I was only able to take one photo as he/she was very fast. From the side I noticed his black beak that blended in to his black head.

Additional comments? - One adult and two juveniles on the mudflat. In a mixed flock: stilts, curlews and terns.

Field Notes - migration grounds with sign in location. another area is across the chanel with signage for other species as well.
as a side issue interested if the flock in question has any tattlers in it.
