Small fungi (1/2 inch) growing on a rotting log in large quantities. Pear shaped, light brown and textured at exposed rounded end. Thick root-like mycelium. White soft surface inside, but most likely immature. Two days after rain storm.
White mushroom staining light brown when bruised or cut. Firm stem snapping like chalk. Cap depressed in center with incurved margins. Growing in leaf litter next to downed tree. Strong earthy odor.
