I'm wondering if the identity of this deceased turtle near Pensacola can be narrowed any. The carapace is about 7 to 8 in. long and high-arched. I can't tell anything about the pattern. The animal expired in a very sandy upland pine-hardwood woodland adjacent to (surrounded by) a freshwater wetland/detention pond. Based on the profile I can rule out map turtles, cooters, sliders, snappers, and softshells. I think I can rule out Gopher Tortoise since the marginal scutes on the sides have sharp corners rather than being rounded. Other than that, I'm clueless.
