Observed perched on a railing about 2-3 m above the surface of Gatun lake. Bird is similar in size to a robin. Crown and head black, with a small white spot in the nostril region. Beak is slightly longer than the head, narrow, pointed, and black in coloration. Throat and neck white. Back, wings and rump appear gray, with slight white patterning toward the tail edges. Tail is gray spotted with white, with a square edge.
