Nymph found when turning over my garden
Found dead in house.
Captured indoors, released outside.
I think this is the back end of a Sphinx Moth (a.k.a. Hummingbird Moth). It might be the same species as this one but I didn't see where the individual came from: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/58309256
It's part of a feeding frenzy of insects attracted to a willow's Slime Flux: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/58311176
If you want to remember the markings on the back of the Eastern Cicada Killer wasp's abdomen, notice that it's wearing a cream-colored crown, mask, and handlebar mustache. It's feeding at a Slime Flux from a willow tree.
