Description

Based on the overall look and bluish colors in parts of the stem, I’m pretty sure this is a Leccinum species, just not totally confident in which one (L. holopus? No nearby birch trees though). None of the three I found had prominent scabers.

  • Found near red pine.
  • Taste not bitter.
  • Nothing seems to bruise any color. There are some notes of blue in spots on the stem though.
  • Ammonia negative on all parts, but did turn pore surface red
  • KOH turned the cap and pore surface red
  • 4” wide, 4.5” tall
  • Light brown spore print with reddish hues
