Shrub/plant near water?
Looks similar to a Pseudomys sp. (delicatulus?).
Long tailed; pale coloured at base.
Ears ¿Large?
Hazelnuts are a favourite over other nuts.
Loves nutritional yeast flakes.
There are three in this group; one of whom is 2/3 irds the size of the larger two.
Active during the day. (e.g. nuts are taken during daylight hours).
They've been around since Spring 2023 and haven't increased in numbers as at May 2024.
Initially, they frantically moved indoors - as far indoors as possible; but we encouraged them outside. Ground-dwelling as they're not climbers.
They are very shy and sensitive to eye contact. Some small nibbles at ¿parasol? pleated mushrooms see during April 2024.
Rakali swam south along the east side of a small pool then climbed onto a low weir then went back into the water and swam to the western bank of the same pool. At one point he or she was only about a metre away from me.
Far gone with mange. Wildlife rescue are on the case. Heart breaking
On Paroo River bank 10:00 pm.
?? 2 Boobooks , one seems to be about 200 metres on my left across the river and the other seems to respond about 400metres ahead of me as I face due South.
Superb Lyrebird cycling through its imitation calls. Some of the species heard mimicked were the Australian magpie, yellow-tailed black cockatoo and laughing kookaburra
