The segments on the pole are 2.5 cm (rather than 5 cm). The total length of the pole is 120cm
Open to opinions on length the cow had been dead for, I’m guessing around 5 days. Did not uncover at all but it seemed all 4 quarters still in tacked as well as neck with some scratches on rear quarter. Multiple sets of same sized cat track going in and out, spent around 5.5 hours tracking to no avail. Out for Photography purposes only.
Smoke and lack of light made it difficult to photograph. White on Flanks and Face is visible here. Call is recorded and heard it's stutter drum pattern. Seen by others previously.
In order to respect this owl's terrain, I've "generalized" the actual location where this shot was taken.
I'm not sure if this is a ruffed grouse or a spruce grouse.
Reckon these are Cougar tracks. Approx. 4.5 inches wide. This animal was walking slowly and placing it’s feet carefully. Hind feet didn’t always quite register in front feet tracks. Tracks have no claws, round prints have lobes at the front (2) and at the back (3). Gait was long and tracks went deep into snow suggesting quite a heavy animal too.
