My husband found it already dead when mowing the lawn. Don’t know what happened to it.

Appears to be gathering materials to build a nest.

Male; note there is likely a nest observed in image #2 below and to the right of the bird.

Female

Mature medium specimen had a rust red chest. The rest of the bird was black. Eye color ooked green was. Specimen was flying around looking for food.

its hard to see but the little grey bird is in the bush

This observation is for the Vesper Sparrows at the top of the water.
