Middle culm
Taxodium distichum swamp with Liquidambar, Quercus and Ulmus on a floodplain on the side of a river. With Cirsium, Carex aff. louisianica (ELC1228) and Carex lupulina (ELC1229) growing in close proximity. Deep shade. Scattered clumps. Spikes almost completely sterile (only 2 somewhat developed but still malformed achenes for about 1800 perigynia )
