A male satin bowerbird visited the new pond in the garden. He had a speckled appearance as he was transitioning to his adult plumage.

He jumped into the pond a number of times. The pond is about a third full of rocks so he could stand on the bottom. He splashed about with his wings throwing water onto his back before jumping back onto the edge and wiped his wings along his body.

Photos 5-8 show him getting swooped by a noisy miner who had been using the pond to bathe a few minutes earlier. As he saw the miner fly at him he fluffed up all of his feathers especially around his neck. When it was closest he let out a single alarmed squawk. He waited a few moments after he was swooped but went back to bathing and jumped in a few more times.

Another bowerbird came to the pond only a few minutes after him. Assume they were in the area together but can't be sure.
