Description

This observation is the first land tortoise I have seen in Olmos Creek Park. I monitor water quality here monthly, and sudden rains (0.7 inch) yesterday broke the long dry heat wave, reviving some vegetation, Warm air (29C). The animal grazed the mown area, eventually reaching a paved sidewalk, where it crossed to the other shaded part of the picnic area. Taxon offered Texas Tortoise, this is the first one I have seen personally, so I'll appreciate confirming ID by others.
