On rimu bark.
Seen on the slopes by the upper Kowhai River near the Hutton's Shearwater colony.
This one was missing both its hind legs but still getting about ok
Heard multiple calls from that individual and others coming from deeper in the valley.
Multiple activity signs including claw marks and droppings.
One very sluggish weta found in frosty conditions at the bottom of a significant bluff system. This is the first of this species I've seen in the area.
Removed from side of road and returned to the safety of the Pākihi. Gravid female. Further searching of area needed as sea-level populations are few and far between.
