Titan arum now with window cut into the base to see the flowers inside. The lower ones are the females and the upper ones are the males. The male flowers open the second night of the bloom to release their pollen, so they are still tightly closed. Smell was most intense in the early morning and fading throughout the day. We did see a few flies checking it out.

Observation 1600!
There appears to be a second American chestnut in this location about 30-40 feet from the known tree. I did find two plump fruits, and plenty of eaten plump fruits at the base, but I’m not sure if they are viable (pollinated vs. unpollinated fruit picture for reference). I’m also unsure if this second tree is a clone or if it is a separate tree from the already know fruiting chestnut here.
