This one is for the odes

Go Away!
I was standing on the pier when I saw this grackle grab something out of the water. I got close to see what it was & got this look. The food item was a dragonfly nymph.

This Is My Dragonfly Larva
Apparently the grackle thought I was after its meal. The nymph started shedding out of its skin while being held by the bird.
Photo 3:
Oooh I See Another One!
While holding the newly emerged dragonfly, the grackle spotted a 2nd one in the water.
Photo 4:
Oh Look! A Third One
After grabbing the 2nd nymph, the grackle spotted a 3rd one in the water. All 3 were in the newly emerged stage now.
Photo 5:
Well This Is Awkward
The greedy grackle seems to be trying to grab a third morsel without dropping the first two. This takes concentration & the bird was ignoring me now.
Photo 6:
I Guess Two's Enough For Now
The third nymph was just too much to juggle so the bird gave up trying and walked off with his two snacks. A lot of fun to watch.
Found during cleanup after Bastrop County Complex Fire. Found and relocated about 220 of these.
I have seen many Muscovy ducks, but none this black. It was hanging out with a flock of coots ;-)
This pigeon is banded, that's why I took the photo, since I thought it could be somehow special.
What was inside was moving around. Appeared to be egg case of some kind. Washed up on shore after hurricane Lee.

White-rumped Needletail. Photographed at Jim Corbett National Park (Garjia Zone), Uttarakhand, India on 7 April 2023. Monotypic.
Eggs laid on the side of my home, then dug up and eaten by something. Unlikely the eggs are turtle eggs.
