Very large, open valved "barnacle-esque" but soft creature found at very low tide(50+yrds. off shore). Closed when disturbed, concentrically ringed. Never witnessed this in all the years living near Puget Sound. Looked like a Geoduck with the neck pulled off-almost. Discovered by my Father in law while foraging along the low tide line.

I foolishly didn't take good photos of this tree which was discovered at the end of a long day. Over time have become increasingly convinced it is the locally uncommon to rare Red Spruce, which I have observed growing nearby at Anderson Rd / Hwy 417. May revisit to obtain photos with better detail. I'm fairly certain it's Red Spruce based on wide growth form and pattern of lower branch persistence, bark texture/colour, foliage and cone appearance on zoom; I barely looked at it while taking the pictures and likely dismissed it as just another White Spruce at the time. Note non-glaucous foliage of new growth, "dense-looking" needle arrangement along twigs, and short-looking abundant cones in middle-right photo
