Mushroom, found in cluster. Cap is beige at the margin with a gradient to burnt-orange color towards the center. Cap has wavy margin, no zonation or striations, and is approximately 3 inches in diameter. Adnexed gills on underside of cap with gray colored gills inside and paler white or cream color gills towards the cap margin. Growing apparently from buried rotting wood beside a pine tree, with oaks also in the area. Approximately 4 inches tall. Apparently maroon to purple spore print. No change in color upon bruising or tearing.

Description

This bolete does not stain the fingers. Cap is dry and sort of powdery. Basal mycelium yellow. Cap flesh yellow. Cap flesh will stain paper yellow. Suspected R. ornatipes.
