Has been visiting my bird bath for a few days

These unidentified flying insects were busy pollinating wildflowers in the Langohr Divide meadow.

First observed July 14, 2023 then again on July 15, 2023

Uncommon in sub-xeric mixed pine woodland

Overwintering on the scaling bark of black willow in an area with lots of sesbania.

Another beautiful specimen from St. Catherine Creek NWR. I assume the consistent summer rains have been beneficial for this plant and its fungal host.

I've never seen this behavior before. I thought it was a turtle at first glance. It stayed in this position until I had completely passed by, them emerged an flew toward the clutch observed nearby.
