Two of 13 AMFL blown to the Outer Banks by Hurricane Idalia.
I'm not sure 100% sold on American Toad, but the wart count in the black spots leads me there. However, directly comparing it to a definite Fowler's Toad from the same location, I keep going back to American - but I am not crazy about the cranial ridges. Some folks suggested Southern, but that's out of range by several counties, and I just don't see the knobs on the crests that would point me to Southern. I'm open to qualified disagreement, and I'd enjoy a discussion. Wishing I'd kept the toad overnight and photographed it some more in the morning, but it may return to the porch one night, so if it does, I'll toadnap it.
G found him.
