Didn't even notice it when we pulled up to the Prairie Dogs because we were watching them. Then I spotted it standing right besides the car, I didn't know what it was doing just standing there but after a minute or two it started coming towards us. It then grabbed a dead Prairie Dog and ran to its burrow in the PDog town.
*this is the smallest wild dog in North America, weighing less than 5 pounds

I'm putting this out there for evaluation by others. An experienced Spotted Owl / vole person thought this was probably a Red Tree Vole nest, a small one probably of a lone male. Didn't look like a bird nest to me because of placement on limb.
