Melanistic juvenile (likely male based on size relative to the Great-tailed Grackle it was feeding upon). Verified by William Clark, and Lance and Jill Morrow. First observed by M. Silvas with me, and I shouted "melanistic Cooper's Hawk, OMG" as I identified the bird preliminarily, before submitting it to experts for review.

This is a best guess...it has the right abdomen shape, but I guess many other orbweavers do as well (I am not an expert on arachnids by any stretch). Does not strike me as similar to Dolomedes sp.
Was engaged in a long battle with an ensnared damselfly, which eventually succumbed to envenoming. Unfortunately, due to the bright lighting and inability to shoot from a different angle, this is really the best shot I could get. Second photo is a tight crop of the spider from a different photo with greater exposure on the abdomen.
