This is the same patch of orchids found by David A. Harris. @palustrisbotany
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/160007569
We found 5 more plants nearby, one is still in full bloom, two are about to bloom (pic 4 and 5). Some are just emerged, no flower bud.
The second picture is a spent seed pod. Mark found it on the forest floor. One has a tiny caterpillar feeds on the flower buds (see 4th picture).
The one that's in full bloom has a spider on it. :-)

Pine savanna trail. Culm 60cm, sharply triangular cross-section, 2mm wide. Leaves short, 8cm x 3mm wide. Spikelet 4.5mm. Achene smooth, flattened one side, convex other side, 2.2mm x 1.8mm +0.3mm tubercle, 12 bristles.

Description
I've never seen a Spiderwort this small and close to the ground before. They were quite common here. Perhaps an uncommon species? Or maybe just related to the poor quality of the sand soil here on Sand Ridge.
