Someone was magnet-fishing on the Willamette river and pulled up a couple bikes that were covered in this weird growth. No clue what it was but it was present all over the bikes.

Description
Feral chicken sits on top of his hospital cage after being rescued from a cat and the attacks of the rest of the flock. Second and third pics are of his injuries. Main pic and last pic are from 3 weeks later.
The neighborhood in which this was taken hosts some 1200 chickens, 60 guinea-fowl and >20 peacocks, all living loose and feral/wild in the yards and parks.

amazing. about the size of a quarter or half dollar. tide just reached the rocks where i found it underwater when rising late afternoon. it was upsidedown and white in the water, so i picked it up and put it in a little dish to shoot a picture. a few minutes later some color appeared and the eyes really opened up.
