Dead Canada goose floating in Blair Pond in Cambridge, MA. Found in the afternoon around 3:30PM, floating belly up under a willow tree on the east edge of the pond. There about 8 mallard ducks also in the pond who all seemed to be fine.

Dead male common merganser found along the side of the Rt. 60 overpass over Rt. 2; on the west side of the road. On a very busy roadway, so could have been hit by vehicle; but not an area frequented by waterfowl, even while flying. However, Spy Pond in Arlington is close by, and has had many common mergansers on it during the winter. Body is beaten up and emaciated looking.

Common grackle predated by a peregrine falcon at the Arlington Reservoir. I didn't see the falcon catch the grackle, but happened on the falcon while it was sitting upon a rock in the Arlington Reservoir ripping apart and eating the grackle. Rock is about 50' offshore, but because the reservoir is drawn down in the winter, the rock is revealed.
