I had found a dead kitten in the paddock and put it up on the regular fence post for local scavenger birds. Then I was surprised to see a Grey Shrikethrush pecking away at it. The sequence of photos shows the somewhat hilarious outcome.
And as a postscript a kookaburra that had been observing all this arrived soon after to claim it.
