most prolific blooming I've seen so far at this site despite the massive slump in the terrain

many of them growing up the side of a steep roadside hill. this patch is producing pods already and will be finished blooming soon. seem to like fairly clear, sunny areas.

just beginning to bloom. most plants haven't bloomed yet. this whole hillside will be covered with them likely in may. this is the second year i've seen them in this spot.

a handful of plants growing roadside among the maidenhair ferns. about 30ft down the road there is a larger sunny patch with lots of blooms

very small compared to other calochortus I've seen ! not sure if that's due to soil composition or just a trait of this particular species
