found in mixed mulch w/ moringa, pigeon pea, oak, and other logs underneath it. Kind of like a hugelkultur garden bed. I got a couple spore prints, but we cooked the specimens with our breakfast :D

Growing amongst andropogon and centipede grasses in a cow pasture where frequent periodic flooding from seasonal rains causes shallow standing water. In situ pictures and observations being periodically made while fruit bodies continue to flush.

I’ve been finding this certain species of Gymnopilus growing on dead wood of Prosopis glandulosa (honey mesquite) over that last couple if years. Very bitter species that I’ve found displaying some blue green staining with fresh mushrooms in moist conditions but rarely does it stain in dryer conditions. This was a day or 2 after a moderate rain but the air dries quickly with the onset of the daily heat.
