The Hills Face Zone (HFZ) covers the stretch of hills and valleys facing over the plains of Adelaide. It is the green backdrop to the city and is a venue for walking, bike riding and exploring for all of us. Unhappily, a lot of the HFZ has been denuded and cleared and houses of inappropriate size continue to be built. In particular, the understory has been cleared and little original landscape remains. The Councils of Adelaide do not enforce enough protection for this area - for example the beautiful skyline from Kensington Lookout north is about to be sold as Boral has established 3 building blocks along this area and Burnside Council could not stop it proceeding - and the DAC allowed it.
