We did not have any new members this month. If you know of anyone that may be interested, please direct them to our page!

We are slowly creeping towards spring, so people are beginning to spend more time outside, animals are moving, and plants are beginning to sprout and bud. Let’s look at some of the updates from our iNaturalist Project this past month.

The project increased from 6745 to 6808 observations (+63), 1645 to 1659 species (+14), while the number of observers increased from 154 to 155 (+1).

Our number of Research Grade observations increased from 4392 to 4442 (+50). This equates to a Research Grade percentage of 65.24% (up from 65.11%).

In total, there were 61 observations added to the project within February 2023. The observations include 19 birds, 13 fungi/lichen, 9 mammals, 9 plants, 8 insects, 2 bacteria, and 1 spider.

Of these, there were 40 species recorded. Isabella Tiger Moth was the species observed the most (4 occasions), with Bald Eagle, Northern Saw-whet Owl, Eastern Mole, and Downy Woodpecker all observed on 3 occasions.

The observations came from 9 observers. The top 5 observers were @elias105 (20), @briarrose777 (14), @martyndrabik (10), @jenniferc3 (8), and @yourcatfishfriend (4).
