Want to learn more about using iNaturalist? Join one of our iNaturalist trainings!


At our iNaturalist trainings you will learn about biological recording, why it's important, learn to use the iNaturalist app and most importantly you'll get a chance to get outside and record some nature for yourself! Suitable for beginners as well as the experienced who want to get a chance to teach others.

What's on over the City Nature Challenge weekend?

Clear your diary from Friday April 28th - Monday May 1st! We've got loads of exciting events happening over the City Nature Challenge weekend. Our event list below will be updated with times and locations as more events go live.

Friday April 28th

  • On Friday morning join the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust for a minibeast hunt in Fargo village! This event is particularly suitable for young children
  • Take a break over Friday lunchtime with a nature walk. Coventry University, Warwick University and Warwickshire biological records centre are all leading their offices out on a lunchtime bioblitz. Keep an eye out a guide on how to get your office out and recording nature at lunchime this year.
  • Are you based on Warwick campus? From 10:00 - 16:00 Warwick university will be organising nature walks and hedgehog recording!
  • If you're more of a night owl, from late afternoon the Warwicksire Wildlife Trust will be organising a noctural nature hunt at the Charterhouse

Saturday April 29th

  • 11:00 - 16:00 Come to Paxton's Arboretum for the Great Big Slug Hunt with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust!
  • 13:00 - 16:00 Longford park and canal natural history walk: Join the Canal and River Trust, City Parks Rangers Team, and park friends group for a natural history walk around the park, nature reserve and canal!

Sunday April 30th

  • 10:00 - 15:00 Join the Allesley and Coundon Wedge Conservation society and the Warwickshrie Wildlife Trust for a bioblitz on Coundon Gap!
  • Think Coventry City Centre isn't full of exciting nature finds? Think again! Come down to the Hub at Coventry University between 13:00 - 16:00 for an urban bioblitz around the city centre.

Monday May 1st

  • 13:00 - 15:00 Allesley park natural history walk: Join the rangers and city ecology team for a natural history walk around Allesley park

You can record nature wherever you are

You don't have to join one of our organised events (although we'd love to have you). You can get out in nature wherever you are,
learn to use iNaturalist and teach your friends. We need recordings from all over Coventry! The UK CNC consotrium also has advice on how to run your own bioblitz .
